The summer is winding down, and kids are heading back to school. But for those who had internships in the construction industry, the past three months were likely anything but relaxing.
From learning the ropes in the office to sweating it out in the field, construction internships can be some of the toughest around, both physically and mentally.
Did you have an internship worth bragging about? Or are you a company who hired an all-star intern for the summer who just knocked their project out of the park?
We're looking for an intern who successfully tackled the biggest, most important project or had the most impact for their company. We want someone who dug in, got their hands dirty -- figuratively or literally -- and turned their summer internship into a real learning and career-building experience.
HCSS will award one Grand Prize winner with a $10,000 scholarship towards their college tuition. Four finalists (two for large companies and two for small companies) will each receive $3,000 scholarships. Entries will be judged by 12 of the most esteemed professionals in the construction industry.
In addition to prize money, we will also hold weekly and monthly contests to reward those who participate in our social media campaigns. All applicants will receive an HCSS hat just for entering. Take photos wearing that hat throughout the fall, in unique places or anywhere you go, and post those photos to Twitter and Facebook. Tag us with @hcss and #constructioninternawards, and we'll pick the best photo each week to win a Yeti Rambler 20 oz. tumbler cup. We'll also hold a random drawing each month from the weekly winners to receive a Yeti Tundra 35 cooler.
The winning intern's company will also be featured in an advertising spread in a national construction industry magazine.
Students can submit entries for the Construction Intern Awards at constructioninternawards.com by filling out the registration form. Please include any photos or other additional information that would give us a better feel for the internship.
