The Illumagear booth at this years ConExpo caught the eye of HCSS’s VP of Software Development, Tom Webb. Their personal construction safety lamp, the Halo Light™, was designed specifically for hard hats. It looks to improve safety in the construction industry by illuminating work space for workers in dangerous low light environments and providing better visibility on the job.
Webb purchased the Halo Light™ soon after returning from ConExpo as an example to our customers of what safety equipment is out there to increase personal safety within the construction workforce. “In the construction industry we have a lot of problems with night time visibility,” said Webb. “What you’ll see when you drive around job sites is guys with reflective vests and sometimes they’re carrying flashlights or anything that can be seen. But when you’re on the side of the road that’s a dangerous activity. The Halo Light™ is battery powered so you don’t need to worry about keeping it lit, you don’t have to have it in your hand like you do a flashlight and it’s just simple. It goes around the hard hat.”
Features of the Halo Light™ include:
• 360 degree ring of light enabling the wearer to be seen in all directions at all times
• Provides visibility at all times in all directions over ¼ mile away
• Fully illuminates your task area out to your visual periphery
• Rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to 12 hours of full power
• Connects securely to almost any hard hat
HCSS customers including Granite Construction and Kiewit have already taken part in case studies for the Halo Light™. The responses have been good so far. “I am excited to get this product in the hands of our people. It will eliminate so many issues when it comes to night work safety by helping people to see more, and be seen more,” said Larry Parks, Safety Manager at Kiewit.
HCSS will showcase Illumagear’s Halo Light™ at our Safety Academy June 2- 5, 2014.
